BET-EU, EIT Raw Materials and EMR-S are organizing the workshop "Printed electronics: boosting innovation for new materials to various applications" to discuss on the innovative materials in the area of printed electronics, their application potential, new production technologies and recyclability aspects. The workshop, which constitutes the first BET-EU summer school, will take place on 24 May 2017 and is embedded in the EMRS Spring Conference in Strasbourg, France.
A symposium with the title: Paper electronics: from materials to applications will be organized on 23 May, in Strasbourg, France within the framework of the 2017 E-MRS Spring Meeting and Exhibit. This dedicated event will be hosted by Antonio José Felix de CARVALHO (Universidade de São Paulo), Rodrigo MARTINS (FCT – UNL; member of the BET-EU coordination team), Ari ALASTALO (VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland; member of BET-EU) and David GUERIN (Centre Technique du Papier). The symposium will cover several hot topics, including:
- Cellulose, biopolymers and composites
PhD students connected to the i3N hub and partner institutions can apply to participate in the IDS-FunMat_Inno Summer School to be held in FCT-UNL, Caparica – Portugal. This event will be organized in the frame of the EIT KIC Raw Materials, in 23-27 April 2017.

The Polish Academy of Sciences in conjunction with the European Society for Research on Materials (E-MRS), the Polish Society of Materials Science and the Polish Crystal Growth Society have assigned Prof. Elvira Fortunato, researcher at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the New University of Lisbon, the Czochralski 2017 award in recognition of her research work in the area of Advanced Materials Science.
The research team led by Professor Elvira Fortunato has received the Innovation INCM (Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda) award by the work Secret paper – an innovative, low-cost approach, delivered by the Minister of the presidency and of administrative modernisation of Portugal, Prof. Maria Manuel Leitão Marques.
